The Convener, Omoluabi for Yayi, Omoluabi Professor Abdulwahid Ajibola has expressed his condolences and a deep sense of loss, at the demise of the matriarch of the Onabanjo family, late Chief (Mrs) Lucia Onabanjo, wife of the former Ogun State Governor, Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo and the pioneer First Lady of Ogun State, as he eulogises late matriarch.
Prof Ajibola in a press statement made available to Signal News and Entertainment, described Chief (Mrs) Onabanjo’s death, at the ripe old age of 101 years, both a loss and a cause for celebrations. He said, as he eulogises late matriarch, “Chief (Mrs) Lucia Onabanjo’s demise constitutes a loss because of the depth of wisdom, native intelligence and experience she is carrying to the grave. These are virtuous and desirable qualities she had been impacting on younger women and family members, until her death. On the other hand, her long, blessed and fruitful life, lived in devotion to family and service to society is a greater cause for celebrations and we rejoice with the Onabanjos at the impactful life Mama lived”.
Prof Ajibola, Omoluabi, grassroots mobilizer and staunch Yayi supporter, concluded his eulogy with prayers that God Almighty will rest late Chief (Mrs) Onabanjo’s soul and grant her family, friends, well-wishers and the entire good people of Ogun State the fortitude to bear the loss, “Chief (Mrs) Onabanjo will be missed not only by her immediate family, but also by everyone of us. May God grant her family and the rest of us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
